Products We Issue!
_____________________________________________________________________
Public Local Forecast: 5-7 day forecast produced by our forecasters using weather models and data to give you an idea on what the week will be like, and how to plan your day or week. Any mentioning of severe weather and threats may be included. This is the main required product that our forecasters **must** issue. They issue this on a set schedule, and may be updated or even corrected as needed and as set forth by the FIC.
Area Forecast Discussion: The Area Forecast Discussion is updated and issued with each forecast that comes out of the ATL office. This provides meteorological reasoning on why the Forecaster put what they did into the forecast. This will include the days of the forecast. The forecaster will not restate the forecast, but will only use it to put reasoning behind the forecast. This will also include any Advisories in effect by the USAWX divisions, or NWS. Such Advisories in effect by the NWS would be Heat Advisories. We do not use NWS Watches such as Severe Weather Watches. The USAWX SWD issues Severe Weather Advisories. The FIC has office rules and may state if the AFD is required or optional. Right now AFD's are optional, but the FIC states right now AFD's are optional, but they may be issued depending on the Forecaster who issues. As FIC, I do like to see AFD's getting issued.
Short Term Update: Plain and simple.. Just like a NWS Short Term Forecast, discusses short term weather, such as Severe Weather. May include any Advisories currently in effect as well.
Hazardous Weather Discussion: Included any adverse weather coming up in the forecast period. If no severe weather, Discussion won't be issued.
